Yul Vázquez was most recently seen as ‘Detective Yunis Sablo’ in HBO’s drama series THE OUTSIDER, based on Stephen King’s best-selling novel of the same name, opposite Ben Mendelsohn and Cynthia Erivo.  Prior to this, Vázquez was seen on Netflix’s Emmy-nominated series, RUSSIAN DOLL opposite Natasha Lyonne, and created by Lyonne, Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland; and on TNT’s miniseries I AM THE NIGHT, directed by Patty Jenkins and opposite Chris Pine. He will next be seen in Hulu’s upcoming feature film, BOOKS OF BLOOD.  

In recent years, Vázquez was seen in a number of feature films including Stephen Belber’s O.G. opposite Jeffrey Wright; Richard Linklater’s LAST FLAG FLYING opposite Bryan Cranston, Steve Carrell and Laurence Fishburne; and in Amazon’s GRINGO, directed by Nash Edgerton, and opposite Joel Edgerton and Charlize Theron. 

Seamlessly moving between film, television, and stage, Vázquez received a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for the Steven Soderbergh directed film, TRAFFIC, as well as a Tony Award nomination, a Theatre World Award nomination, a Drama Desk, and an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination for his portrayal of ‘Cousin Julio’ in the Broadway production of THE MOTHERF**CKER WITH THE HAT.

Adding to his extensive film resume are features including THE INFILTRATOR opposite Bryan Cranston and Diane Kruger; Paul Greengrass’s CAPTAIN PHILLIPS opposite Tom Hanks; Michael Cuesta’s KILL THE MESSENGER opposite Jeremy Renner; THE A-TEAM opposite Bradley Cooper and Liam Neeson; Jeff Wadlow’s THE TRUE MEMOIRS OF AN INTERNATIONAL ASSASSIN; and Ridley Scott’s AMERICAN GANGSTER alongside Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington, which was nominated for a SAG award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.  

Over the years, Vázquez has had memorable roles on some of television’s most popular shows, from his recurring character ‘Bob’ (the “angry gay Puerto Rican”) on SEINFELD to ‘Rueben the Cuban’ on HBO’s THE SOPRANOS.
