Emayatzy Corinealdi

Emayatzy Corinealdi can be seen starring as the lead character in the Hulu series “Reasonable Doubt.” The show is produced by “Scandal” producers Raamla Mohamad and Keri Washington, who also directs episodes. Corinealdi plays Jax Stewart, a powerful defense attorney constantly judged for her questionable ethics and wild interpretations of the law until the person judging becomes her client. Then, she is appreciated for what she is: the most brilliant and fearless attorney in Los Angeles, bucking the justice system every chance she gets. Jax is loosely based on criminal defense attorney Shawn Holley, who’s also producing the Hulu series.

Corinealdi also starred opposite Dwayne Johnson in the HBO hit series “Ballers,” completing a multiple-episode arc. On the big screen, she starred as the female lead opposite Don Cheadle in the Miles Davis biopic “Miles Ahead” for Sony Pictures Classics, which premiered at the New York Film Festival and screened at Sundance and SXSW.

Corinealdi is best known for her breakout performance opposite David Oyelowo in the critically acclaimed Sundance feature “Middle of Nowhere,” which was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize and won Best Director for Ava DuVernay. Corinealdi was named one of the Top Ten Faces to Watch for the Fall at the Toronto International Film Festival, won Breakthrough Actor at the Gotham Awards, and was nominated for Best Actress at the Independent Spirit Awards.

Corinealdi’s other credits include starring in the CBS limited series “Red Line,” opposite Noah Wyle and executive produced by Greg Berlanti. She starred in the highly rated History Channel adaptation of Alex Haley’s mini-series “Roots,” starring opposite Forest Whitaker and Malachi Kirby. She starred as Tessie in the Amazon original series “Hand of God,” opposite Ron Perlman and Dana Delany for executive producers Marc Forster and Ben Watkins. She also starred in the psychological thriller “The Invitation,” which premiered on opening night of the SXSW Film Festival and was acquired by Drafthouse Films.
