New Deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution to Bring Past Seasons of SHOWTIME’s Flagship Drama Series to Hulu Beginning Today
SANTA MONICA, CA (August 1, 2016) – Hulu and Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution today announced a new agreement that will allow Hulu subscribers to watch and discover the critically acclaimed and multi-award-winning series Homeland from the beginning. Starting today, seasons one through four of SHOWTIME’s hit drama series are available to Hulu subscribers at www.hulu.com/homeland.
“On the heels of another critically acclaimed season and multiple Emmy® nominations, HOMELAND is the perfect addition to Hulu’s growing library of premium exclusive programming,” said Craig Erwich, SVP and Head of Content, Hulu. “This series has drawn in audiences for years on SHOWTIME and we cannot wait to give even more viewers the chance to watch and discover it on Hulu.”
“Both incredibly gripping and addictive, Homeland is television at its very best,” said Gina Brogi, EVP Worldwide Pay TV & SVOD at Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution. “This series is ripe for the binging and we’re excited for Hulu’s fan base to experience the adrenaline rush that Homeland offers season after season.”
Since its launch in 2011, Homeland has received critical acclaim and multiple Primetime Emmy® Awards including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress in a Drama Series for Damian Lewis and Claire Danes respectively. The series most recently received its fourth Emmy® nomination for Outstanding Drama Series and Star Claire Danes received her fifth nomination for Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as “Carrie Mathison” this year. Homeland goes into production on its sixth season later this summer in New York City, and will return to SHOWTIME in 2017.
Produced by Fox 21 Television Studios, Homeland was developed for American television by Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon, and is based on the original Israeli series Prisoners of War by Gideon Raff, which streams exclusively in the U.S. on Hulu. Along with Gansa and Gordon, the executive producers for season six will be Chip Johannessen, Lesli Linka Glatter, Patrick Harbinson, Michael Klick, Gideon Raff, Avi Nir and Ran Telem.
Homeland joins Hulu’s rapidly expanding library of premium exclusive content, including ROOTS, Blindspot, Empire, Fargo, Curious George, Lucifer, South Park and groundbreaking licensing deals with major cable networks FX, Turner and AMC Networks, as well as full libraries of hit broadcast and cable shows, and premium original series.
