Firstly and foremost, Mike Weiss and Heidi Cole McAdams are friends, not writing partners. In fact, the pilot for Death and Other Details was the first script they ever wrote together. And the first show either had ever created. And even after exhausting days in the writers room and moving to Vancouver to produce the show, they are, astonishingly, still friends. (And still not writing partners.) They share an obsession with murder mysteries, strange-but-lovable characters, and too much attention to detail.

Before collaborating on this series, both were in development on multiple pilots and had worked as writer/producers on other people’s shows — Mike’s credits includes In Plain Sight; The Mentalist; Chicago PD; Code Black. Heidi wrote on Intelligence; State of Affairs and The 100. When they decided to team up to create something together, they were lucky enough to be introduced to Marc Webb. Turned out that Marc shares their love of a complex whodunit. A show was born.

Mike grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from Columbia University in New York. Heidi grew up in Alameda, California. She has a BA in English with a concentration in detective fiction (not a joke) from UC Berkeley and an MFA from USC’s Peter Stark Producing Program. Mike has two boys. Heidi has a boy, a girl, and dog. Not that it’s a contest.
