Pilar Savone
Executive Producer
Pilar Savone is the executive vice president of production and development at Simpson Street, a production company formed by actor, producer and director Kerry Washington.
Washington and Savone produced American Son, the filmed adaptation of 2018’s hit Broadway production starring Washington and Steven Pasquale. American Son will debut on Netflix after its premiere at the 2019 Toronto Film Festival.
Savone is currently in production on Little Fires Everywhere, Hulu’s highly-anticipated limited series based on Celeste Ng’s hit novel, starring Washington, Reese Witherspoon, Rosemarie DeWitt and Joshua Jackson.
Prior to Simpson Street, Savone was a production executive at New Regency, where she oversaw production on ASSASSIN’S CREED, starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard.
In 2016, Savone produced the independent feature RUN THE TIDE, starring Taylor Lautner and Constance Zimmer. The film follows a young man (Lautner), who kidnaps his younger brother upon his mother’s release from prison.
Savone produced several films for director Quentin Tarantino, garnering an Academy Award nomination for DJANGO UNCHAINED in 2012. DJANGO UNCHAINED remains Tarantino’s biggest box office hit, with global returns of over $420 million.
In 2009, Savone was an associate producer on Tarantino’s INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS. Filmed in Berlin and Paris, INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS grossed over three hundred million dollars worldwide, and was nominated for eight Academy Awards.
Prior to INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, Savone was an associate producer on Tarantino’s DEATH PROOF, starring Kurt Russell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Sydney Poitier, Zoe Bell, Vanessa Ferlito, and Tracie Thoms. The film was released domestically as part of GRINDHOUSE, a double feature that included Robert Rodriguez’s PLANET TERROR as well as a group of trailers from Rodriguez, Eli Roth, Rob Zombie, and Edgar Wright. DEATH PROOF was nominated for the Palme d’Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.
Savone’s long tenure with the Academy Award-winning writer-director began when she was an assistant director on JACKIE BROWN. She went on to join the production for KILL BILL as Tarantino’s assistant.
Savone began her career as an assistant director. Her credits include SPY GAME, COMPANY MAN, ARLINGTON ROAD, THE MINUS MAN, THE LAST TIME I COMMITTED SUICIDE and NOWHERE.
A graduate of Syracuse University, Savone resides in Los Angeles.
