Abby is an Emmy Award-winning director and producer. She is one of the filmmakers behind the critically acclaimed series Chef’s Table, Netflix’s first documentary series and the longest-running series on the platform. She also directed Dear Oprah for Apple TV+, the award-winning feature documentary, Do You Dream in Color? which was distributed by PBS, and co-directed John Leguizamo: Live at Rikers. Her work is known for its highly cinematic and intimate approach.

 

Her films have premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, the Tribeca Film Festival and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her critically acclaimed short film, Shepherd’s Song was the recipient of the Move Mountains grant from The North Face and premiered at Mountainfilm in Telluride. In 2023, she won an Emmy for her short form series with chef Marcus Samuelsson exploring the rich history of Sag Harbor, NY.  Currently she is directing a multi-part series, GOAT for MasterClass. Abby is a graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts and also attended the FAMU School in Prague, CZ. 

 

When not working on films around the world, she lives on a regenerative cattle ranch in the Cascade mountain range of southern Oregon with her husband and dog, Charlotte.
