Reena’s father, a gentle soul trying his best to understand his daughter during her adolescent transformation, although the emotional scars she has inflicted are raw. Manjit was an English major in college and has a deep appreciation for poetry, and a love for his family — he often steps into the role of caretaker with his children in the pursuit of the perfect happy family unit. Manjit’s faith in the beauty and safety of Vancouver Island is challenged as he is forced to contend with the racism and shame his family endures at the hands of the press after his daughter’s murder — but ultimately Manjit rises above as a lifelong advocate against bullying and violence, and becomes an inspiring figure across Canada.
